Biological Studies and Surveys

Spring Rivers provides biological surveys and specializes in surveys for rare and special status taxa, including federally and state-listed endangered and threatened species, federal species of concern, California species of special concern, United States Forest Service (USFS) sensitive species, and USFS Record of Decision (ROD) species. We have conducted surveys of:

• Crayfish (e.g., federally and state-listed endangered Shasta crayfish)
• Terrestrial molluscs
• Aquatic molluscs
• Amphibians (e.g., foothill yellow legged frog)
• Reptiles (e.g., western pond turtle)
• Fish (e.g., sculpin)

In addition to surveys that focus on individual animal species, we also have extensive experience with surveys for and studies of:

• Riparian vegetation
• Aquatic vegetation
• Trout and Chinook salmon spawning
  • Spawning substrate availability and mapping
  • Spawner counts
  • Egg survival
• Juvenile salmon mortality resulting from piscine predation
